Now You Try

Let's get some more practice. Read the following scenario and think of a possible solution.

Scenario

Mr. Earl just finished asking questions to generate ideas for a story. Amanda comes up with a story line of a knight fighting an evil dragon and rescuing a beautiful princess. Nick doesn't like that idea, however and tells his idea of 3 robbers stealing all of the jewelry in a shop and killing the shop owner. The robbers get away by outrunning the police and then they live long and prosperous. One of the things we need to remember is that the stories shouldn't have violence and there should be good values in the story, or it should teach a lesson. This goes along with rule No. 3: No one gets hurt.

What would you do if you were Mr. Earl? How would you use the guidelines to enforce the rules in this situation ?

Write down your ideas, then go to the next page to compare them to how our specialist would handle the situation.
