Composing Melodies

First let's watch how a teacher can help to support a music specialist and follow the rules by using some of the guidelines.

Click "play" in the video window on the right to watch Mr. Tan's 4th grade class begin to compose the melody of their libretto. Watch for the following ways Mr. Tan use guidelines to support the music specialist and enforce rules:

  • He introduces the specialist
  • He has previously prepared the students for the specialists arrival
  • He reviews why the specialist is there by asking questions
  • He validates the students and the specialist by complimenting their singing
  • He is actively present during the process
