Let's Look at Another Scenario

Let's look at another situation where the teacher has the opportunity to support the music specialist.

Scenario

Ms. Marler has Mr. Wiley's 7th grade class comfortable singing and moves into converting the written libretto into music. She asks for a volunteer to sing the first line. No one volunteers; everyone is silent. What can Mr. Wiley do to help the students participate?

Click on the idea that you think is best and see the feedback below.

The children may feel a little awkward and it would help if Mr. Wiley volunteered Ms. Marler to go ahead and do the first line so the children could see how it was done.

Mr. Wiley could ask one of the students he knows would be comfortable doing it to go ahead and sing the first line.

Mr. Wiley could give the students extra incentive to sing and tell them they could get extra credit if they participated.
